DevSnap is a developer utility for turning technical images into cleaner text, Markdown, and Mermaid diagrams. DevSnap does not require an account and does not use your data for advertising or tracking.
Information DevSnap Handles
DevSnap may process the following content only when you choose to provide it:
- Camera captures you take inside the app
- Images you select from Photos
- Text or images you paste from the clipboard
- Code snippets, logs, stack traces, and related text extracted from those inputs
This content is used to recognize text, clean formatting, detect code language, generate structured results, show results, and save local history on your device.
AI Transform
DevSnap includes an optional AI Transform mode. When you use AI Transform, DevSnap sends the image or screenshot you selected, the selected transform mode, and an app-generated anonymous device ID to the DevSnap transform service. The device ID is used to enforce daily usage limits and retrieve the status of your transform request. It is not an advertising identifier.
The DevSnap transform service uses third-party cloud and AI service providers to process the request and return Markdown, plain text, summaries, and Mermaid diagrams when applicable. Uploaded images may be temporarily stored while an asynchronous transform request is processed. Transform results and service records may be stored to let the app retrieve the result, enforce usage limits, operate the service, and diagnose service issues.
Text Scan mode runs on your device and does not upload your images or extracted text to the DevSnap transform service.
On-Device Storage
DevSnap can save recent snippets locally on your device so you can reopen them later. You can clear history from inside the app.
DevSnap also stores app preferences, such as formatting settings, using local device settings storage.
Apple Intelligence
On supported devices, DevSnap may use Apple Intelligence features available on the device to refine recognized text. Core text scanning and formatting work without Apple Intelligence.
Network and Accounts
DevSnap does not require an account. DevSnap does not sell personal data and does not use your content, device ID, or service diagnostics for cross-app tracking, targeted advertising, or advertising measurement.
Permissions
Camera permission is used to scan code from images you capture.
Photos permission is used to let you choose screenshots or images to process.
Clipboard content is read only when you use the paste action.
